Minecraft seemed to creep back up as being popular over the last few months and now Microsoft has revealed that 112 million gamers play Minecraft each month, which is a 20 million increase from October 2018!
Youtuber PewDiePie may have something to do with that being that we have seen an increase of Minecraft content on his YouTube channel over the last few months, one other reason why Minecraft has become so popular could be due to the recent 10 year anniversary update that was released which brought a lot of new content.
This may come as a surprise to many being that Minecraft is not actually a free to play game like Fortnite, but with Microsoft making it available to those with a Game Pass subscription, it's more affordable now for gamers to gain access to the game, especially if they can not afford it outright.
Looking at those stats and seeing just how much of an increase in players on Minecraft, it's understandable why Epic Games released modes such as Creative on Fortnite, losing players is not something any game developer wants to see.
It will be interesting to see if there is any kind of increase the next time the stats are released by Microsoft, no matter which way we look at it though, Game Pass definitely seems to be helping a lot of games stay high up there in terms of popularity and I don't see Microsoft getting rid of Game Pass any time soon.
