22yo Special Ed Teacher who's married to a cop arrested for having sex with a student
A former Madison County special ed teacher was arrested for allegedly having sex with a student. Her name is Lyndsey Sherrod Bates and she was charged with a felony count of engaging in a sex act with a student who is younger than 19. She was also charged with multiple misdemeanors. Those counts are as follows: three counts of distributing obscene material to a student and one count of having sexual contact with a student. Her bail was set at $32,000. The 22-year-old former teacher is "the daughter-in-law of Stacy Bates. Stacy Bates is the chief deputy of the Madison County sheriff’s office, which investigated the case."
It was reported that Chief Bates was not involved in this investigation according to Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner, who stated this in a statement.
The former teacher is married to Bates' son, who is also involved in law enforcement.
The victim/s of Lyndsey Bates' alleged crimes are reportedly minors.
She began working at the Madison County High school at the beginning of this school year, but she has obviously resigned amid her incident.
The Madison County school district superintendent, Matt Massey, made a statement, saying "we are fully cooperating with law enforcement. Our system fully condemns such actions and we are also offering counseling for our students."
