Alabama GOP passes a resolution asking Congress to expel Ilhan Omar
A controversial congresswoman, Ilhan Omar, can be expelled from Congress in the near future. That's at least the goal of Alabama's GOP, that recently passed such resolution at their meeting in Auburn the last weekend. The resolution was proposed by State Rep. Tommy Hanes of Scottsboro.
Omar is one of two Muslim women that were ever elected to Congress. She is a refugee from Somalia, and her opinions on many issues are not exactly in compliance with the rhetorics of other politicians and people in the USA. She is known for making critical comments about Israel and its relations with the USA, and she is also very critical of US policies in the Middle East and Africa.
Alabama's GOP resolution states that the "expulsion process" of Omar should begin, mainly for her inappropriate and unacceptable, in Alabama's GOP's view, opinions and beliefs. Alabama Republicans claim that Omar has a "disturbing record of using anti-Semitic language that includes alleging Jewish money is used to buy American influence regarding its policy toward Israel."
Alabama's Republicans also dislike how Omar criticizes Israel and wants to boycott it over its behavior and policies towards the Palestinians.
And there are also the other reasons why Alabama's Republicans don't like Ilhan Omar. “Rep. Omar has engaged in rhetoric that explicitly runs counter to American values and patriotism by falsely accusing U.S. armed forces of committing war crimes while on mission to liberate her home country of Somalia,” states resolution from Auburn.
But Alabama's GOP has even more serious accusations against Ilhan Omar. The Republicans from this state claim that she "dismissed the 9/11 terror attacks” and sympathizes with some of the terrorists.
Because of Omar's harsh stance against Israel's policies, she was recently denied entry to this country. When later Israel offered her entry once again, on a condition that she will not talk about the situation in Palestine, she proudly declined it. She also said that America supports Israel because of all the money that US lawmakers receive from pro-Israeli lobbyists.
