Officers of the U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) who were working at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) have successfully seized a package that contained fake COVID-19 test kits, as it arrived from the United Kingdom.
The officers involved found six plastic bags that were filled with vials. This is while they were looking at some parcel that apparently said "Purified Water Vials" and was valued at $196.81. Perhaps the amount it was valued at tipped them off.
CBP reports their examination then found the fake test kits.
A complete examination of the shipment, led to the finding of vials filled with a white liquid and labeled “Corona Virus 2019nconv (COVID-19)” and “Virus1 Test Kit”. The shipment was turned over to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for analysis.
The CBP Director of Field Operations in LA made a statement, saying that “protecting the health and safety of the American people is a top priority for CBP,” and “This significant interception, at a time when the U.S. is in the midst of a National Emergency, demonstrates our CBP officers’ vigilance and commitment to ensure dangerous goods are intercepted and not a threat to our communities and our people.”
It is heavily suggested that Americans do not buy COVID-19 tests online as they are probably fake.
