Do you remember your childhood friends? Here's some celebrities who were either friends or knew each other in one way or another before they became famous celebrities.
Jay Z, Biggie Smalls, Busta Rhymes, and DMX went to the same school.
If you went to Brooklyn's George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School in the 1980s, you apparently have an exponentially better chance at selling a few million records - our of the world's most famous rap artists all went there.
Cameron Diaz and Snoop Dogg in High school
Cameron Diaz and Snoop Dogg met as teenagers as they both attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School and became close friends. Diaz confessed in an interview, “I’m pretty sure I bought weed from him”, to what Snoop Dogg answered in a different interview, “I might have sold her some of that white girl weed”. If that doesn’t form a strong bond, what will? And what we do know is that Cameron has always been VERY pro-green!
Jon Lovitz' father was Michael Jackson's family doctor
This being true, Jon Lovitz and the King of Pop met several times over the years, including the time an 11-year-old Jackson almost ran Lovitz over with his bicycle.
The pair met again when Lovitz was in university and Jackson was shooting Battle of the Network Stars, because Joe Jackson wasn't going to waste money on college. When they both became famous (albeit to wildly different degrees), Lovitz twice got to send a truckload of orphaned and sick kids to Jackson's Neverland Ranch, and even spent the night at the ranch once - an experience that was either deeply moving or fodder for sexual assault jokes, depending on which context Lovitz is telling the story in. I'd venture to say fodder for sexual assault jokes would be used more often.
Naomi Watts And Nicole Kidman
Free Trump Hat - Get It Here!
Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman met when they were 13-years-old at North Sydney Girls’ High School. Although they could’ve become massive competitors as two Australian actresses of the same generation in Hollywood, their bond has been strong throughout the years.
The ladies have been close since attending high school at the Phillip Street Theatre in Sydney, and their friendship is evident at movie premieres and award shows to this day. In 1991, they starred together in the Australian independent film Flirting. Of her relationship with Naomi, Nicole has said that they are "very, very good friends and have maintained that through so many things," adding, "I think that's really rare, particularly for actresses, and I take a lot of pride in that." Naomi has also revealed that the two share "naughty wicked senses of humor" and that while they "definitely go to glamorous dinner parties" they can also "sit in a room and motormouth each other." In honor of their decades-long friendship, here are Nicole and Naomi's sweetest photos.
Leonardo DiCaprio And Tobey Maguire
Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire met in the late 1980s when they were just getting into the industry. DiCaprio talked about how the friendship started, saying, “After I met Toby at an audition, I felt like I wanted this guy to be my friend”. DiCaprio spoke about interrupting his practice with Whoopi Goldberg in high school and asking for Maguire’s phone number, to which Maquire answered, “Yeah, who are you again?”.
Novelist Samuel Beckett Drove Andre The Giant to school
Samuel Beckett, Nobel Prize winner (literature) and esteemed playwright, probably most noted for Waiting for Godot, bought some land in 1953 near a hamlet around forty miles northeast of Paris and built a cottage for himself with the help of some locals. One of the locals that helped him build the cottage was a Bulgarian-born farmer named Boris Rousimoff, who Beckett befriended and would sometimes play cards with. As you might’ve been able to guess, Rousimoff’s son was André the Giant, and when Beckett found out that Rousimoff was having trouble getting his son to school, Beckett offered to drive André to school in his truck — a vehicle that could fit André — to repay Rousimoff for helping to build Beckett’s cottage. Adorably, when André recounted the drives with Beckett, he revealed they rarely talked about anything other than cricket.
One can only imagine how one friend helped the other friend through the complex maze of rising through the Hollywood ranks. Who did the heavy lifting and who should be forever grateful?
