A former professional clown plans to run for Congress in South Carolina and it's not Maxine Waters. His name is Steve Lough and he used to be a clown for the popular Ringling Bros. circus. Many people already know what party he's running for and that's the Democrats of course. He's trading one dog and pony show for another and he might even call Frederica Wilson to talk about what hats they will wear if they ever meet in person.
Some people might think this is a joke or an article from The Onion, a highly reputable satire site, but unfortunately, there really is another clown running for a Congress seat from the Democrat party. People aren't sure if Steve Lough knows what he's getting into, but he'll surely find out. Perhaps his days of dressing up in clown suits aren't over after all. If he wins, then it will be just like going to work at his old job with the rest of the clowns.
The Hill reported that "Lough said he wants to advocate for gun control and universal access to health care.
He cited the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, saying that he was working in a North Carolina school to help combat bullying at the time.
"For the next six months, I couldn't sleep, felt depressed, and every time I worked with a 6-year-old volunteer in the show, I was reminded of the horror of that day in Newtown," Lough said, according to The State.
"When none of our gun laws changed, I got mad."
Lough has in the past volunteered on the 2008 and 2012 campaigns of former President Obama. He said he also volunteered on the 2016 presidential campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
Several other Democrats have also filed to run in the South Carolina district against Rep. Ralph Norman (R). The Democratic primary will be held later this year."
When a Democrat runs on an agenda based on gun control and he also volunteered for Bernie Sanders, then it sure seems like an easy victory for the Republican. People must get to the polls and vote to ensure that another Democrat clown doesn't take a seat that they don't deserve.
