City in Ilhan Omar's district votes to eliminate Pledge of Allegiance
A city council meeting in Ilhan Omar's district just voted to eliminate the Pledge of Allegiance before every meeting in order to make it a more welcoming environment and not to offend anyone. You know, this is America right? We love our country, our flag, and we are not offended by it.
Well, that's not the case in St. Louis Park City where they just voted it out 5-0. This vote took place on June 17 and they all voted to drop the pledge.
CBS local in Minnesota reported:
"In order to create a more welcoming environment to a diverse community, we are going to forgo saying the Pledge of Allegiance before every meeting,” said Council Member Tim Brausen
At the meeting, Brausen said members might recite it in the future if there’s an appropriate opportunity, like if Boy Scouts are there.
Ellen Hertz, a business owner in the city, says she has no problem with the change, but doesn’t think it was necessary.
“In terms of what would offend people and what offends me, that’s not at the top of the list,” Hertz said.
This is one of the most absurd and pointless thing I have ever seen a city council meeting vote on. Do they remember what country they are in? This is America! Why are they not acting like it?
Want to see the meeting in action? Here's the video. I started it at minute 49 for you and skipped right to the ridiculous part where 5 people prove they don't even love their country.
UPDATE: The Pledge of Allegiance has been restored!
