Ellen DeGeneres has to defend herself just for sitting next to George W. Bush
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is surrounded in controversy after a picture of her sitting next to former President George W. Bush was posted by Jeven W. @xSmootx on Twitter. This took place last weekend a the Dallas' Cowboys Game against the Green Bay Packers.
DeGeneres discussed this matter on Tuesday's episode where she explained how she ended up sitting next to Bush. She said she was invited by Charlotte Jones, the daughter of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. She remarked "We went because we wanted to keep up with the Joneses" which drew laughter from her audience.
The 61-year-old host shared a video she took, capturing her wife Portia DeRossi, Bush and his wife Laura who sat next to him.
DeGeneres knew of people's displeasure towards the photo and she explained why she sat beside the former president.
"Here's the thing: I'm friends with George Bush. In fact, I'm friends with a lot of people who don't share the same beliefs that I have. We're all different and I think that we've forgotten that we're all different. For instance, I wish people wouldn't wear fur. I don't like it but I'm friends with people who wear fur and I'm friends with people who are furry, as a matter of fact. But just because I don't agree with someone on everything doesn't mean I'm not gonna be friends with them. When I say be kind to one another, I don't mean only the people that think the same way you do. I mean be hind to everyone. It doesn't matter."
Well said, Ellen, well said.
Also, did anyone notice that whenever the Cowboys play a decent team, they get beat? Hmmmmm...
