Shane Kohfield, a 32-year-old former marine who attended a demonstration, had his five weapons confiscated by the FBI. Kohfield, who went to the protest, told the public that "If Antifa gets to the point where they start killing us, I'm going to kill them next. I'd slaughter then, and I have a detailed plan on how". This was not his only way to support the government in their actions against Antifa. He also wrote to Republican Representative Dan Crenshaw to voice out how he is also in support of President Donald Trump considering the idea of proclaiming Antifa as a domestic terrorist group.
His public proclamation prompted the FBI to intervene. Under Oregon Legislature's Red-Flag Law, he had to surrender five guns. One of which was an AR-15. The Red-Flag Law is used to oppose the Second Amendment's gun rights. This law allows agencies and family orders to seek a court order, allowing to have weapons taken away from individuals who may be violent. While he was not charged with any crime, Kohfield is now barred from participating in other protests that will be held.
Though he appeared to be threatening, Kohfield said he did not intend to look violent or cause harm. He told the newspaper how he looked unhinged. It was not his attention to look dangerous. The fact that he also has military experience made him comment on how he actually had the training to be dangerous. Th FBI did not comment about the case and it is not clear if Kohfield will have those weapons returned to him.
