There's something crazy going on with our world and saying that people who play videos games might have a mental disorder is one of them. WHO wants us to know that "gaming disorder" might be a real thing and I'm here to remind you that it's complete bullsh*t. I don't see how playing video games can be considered a mental condition, but something like trying to pick your gender is not.

WHO wants people to think they magically have some mental disorder for playing video games, but this has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Since when is playing a game considered a mental condition? Oh, we have a condition for everything now? A person would rather play video games with friends instead of participating in drug use or something else, and that's a bad thing? Are games addictive? Maybe, but that doesn't mean someone has a mental condition. If someone has something to do, they'll do it. People don't give up everything to play some games. If they want to play games, then let people play games.

WHO describes gaming disorder as the following:

"Gaming disorder is characterized by a pattern of persistent or recurrent gaming behaviour (‘digital gaming’ or ‘video-gaming’), which may be online (i.e., over the internet) or offline, manifested by: 1) impaired control over gaming (e.g., onset, frequency, intensity, duration, termination, context); 2) increasing priority given to gaming to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other life interests and daily activities; and 3) continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences. The behaviour pattern is of sufficient severity to result in significant impairment in personal, family, social, educational, occupational or other important areas of functioning. The pattern of gaming behaviour may be continuous or episodic and recurrent. The gaming behaviour and other features are normally evident over a period of at least 12 months in order for a diagnosis to be assigned, although the required duration may be shortened if all diagnostic requirements are met and symptoms are severe."

That sounds like every teenage boy and male in their 20's. So many adults play video games in their spare time because it's relaxing. If gaming is a mental condition, then it's also a spiritual relaxation method. It has to go both ways, right?

I play games to relax and communicate with friends and family. My brothers and friends grew up gaming, and we still play. Do we all have a gaming disorder? Should we see a psychiatrist? No, but we should realize that gaming disorder is nonsense and WHO needs to check themselves before they wreck themselves.

Do you want to know what the therapy is for people with that fake gaming disorder? It's called get a better game. The only disorder I see in video games is playing something too long and it gets boring.

Or lag.

Everyone hates lag.
