A 67-year-old grandpa got into a gunfight with three suspected rapists who broke into his home and tried to rape his granddaughter, allegedly. Gun-toting Grandpa, Kenneth Byrd, who lives in Lumberton, wasn't going to sit around and let his granddaughter be raped, so he busted out the shotgun and started a 1 vs 3 gunfight with the suspects.

Byrd suffered several gunshot wounds himself, but he managed to protect his 19-year-old granddaughter, his 65-year-old wife, and killed one of the suspects.

It's reported that one of the suspects came to the family's door and claimed to have car trouble and wanted some water. The other two suspects were wearing dark clothes, gloves, ski masks, and pushed their way into the home.

The family noted that each of the three suspects was armed and the crew wanted the family to give them money. The grandparents were made to open a family safe and then the suspects attempted to rape the granddaughter.
Byrd didn't seem to care about money being taken, but he wasn't about to let his granddaughter get raped by three degenerate thugs. He became the good guy with the gun. He grabbed his shotgun and ripped off a few rounds, pumping some lead into the suspects. The shot back and hit him too, but his granddaughter and wife were safe.

the suspects then stole Byrd's Cadillac and drove away.

One of the suspects later died in the hospital.

The suspects are:

28-year-old Brandon Carver Stephens

17-year-old Jamar Hawkins

20-year-old Jamie Lee Faison (deceased)
