Hillary Clinton sued for defamation

HIllary Clinton has been sued for defamation, as filed today, Wednesday January 22, 2020. The lawsuit was filed by Rep. Tulsi Gabbard who claims that Hillary was suggesting that Tulsi was "the favorite of the Russians" when it came to presidential candidates. However, Clinton did not mention Tulsi directly, it was suggested by the context.

Joshua Caplan of Breitbart reported the lawsuit accuses Clinton of smearing Gabbard's "political and personal reputation." The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Gabbard is claiming that the former Secretary of State, Clinton, had purposely made the false statements about the Russians hopes to make it seem like Gabbard was a "Russian asset" and derail her run for president.

Tulsi Gabbard had a statement made in support of her, in defense, stating:

Tulsi Gabbard is a loyal American civil servant who has also dedicated her life to protecting the safety of all Americans... Rep. Gabbard’s presidential campaign continues to gain momentum, but she has seen her political and personal reputation smeared and her candidacy intentionally damaged by Clinton’s malicious and demonstrably false remarks.

So what was Clinton saying that was not accepted by Tulsi?

Well, as Caplan's article went on, he reported that Clinton was on a podcast years ago, 2008 to be exact, and that's where a bit of smearing took place. The podcast was hosted by David Plouffe, who was the campaign manager for Barack Obama that year.

Clinton said this:

[Russia] has a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting [Gabbard] so far. That’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she is also a Russian asset.

They know they can’t win without a third-party candidate, and so I do not know who it’s going to be, but I can guarantee you they will have a vigorous third-party challenge in the key states that they most need it.

Tulsi fought back soon after.

Now Gabbard has filed a lawsuit against Hillary Clinton for the defamation.
