Homeless man arrested for using bat as weapon during fight
A homeless man was caught on video fighting someone with a baseball bat. His name is Phillip Ray Lester, 61, and this took place in the Fresno section of California based on a report by Boston 25 News. Lester was charged with assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm. He was arrested and being held in Fresno's County Jail.
The other man was swinging a metal rod while Lester used the baseball bat. It is unclear what happened with the other man who used a metal rod during this bizarre fight that ended up being caught on camera by a witness.
Boston 25 News reported, "(Lester) went to the other homeless persons camping area (and) began tearing down his tent," Fresno police Lt. Mark Hudson told the television station. "That's when the victim confronted him and that's when the suspect began striking him with a baseball bat."
The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, KFSN reported. He is expected to survive but may require surgery, the television station reported."
At this point it's unclear if the victim, who was also participating in the fight, will face criminal charges.
Lester's mugshot also caused quite a stir on social media, with many people saying he could be "headed" to jail or asking for a "heads up."
