It took five hours of negotiation, but they finally surrendered

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- This could be the mugshot heard around the world. It took about five hours of negotiating with a male suspect and female accomplice, but they finally surrendered. The male, Donald Eugene Lory, Jr., 54, was suspected of stabbing a victim who is now in critical condition with life-threatening injuries from the stab wounds.

The cops, APD, arrived and found out Lory was barricaded inside an apartment. That's when police cleared the area and began negotiating. They also brought in what's known as the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) to help get the suspect out safely and without any more activity from them. This all started around 3:40 a.m. and did not end until almost 10 a.m. when the male finally emerged, followed by the female suspect, Julia Crystal Cavaliere, 41, who has a weird clown painted face.

Lory was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflict serious injury. Cavaliere was charged with resist, delay, obstruct.
