Jay-Z and Beyonce caught sitting during National Anthem at Super Bowl

Rap Star Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce are facing backlash due to their choice to sit while the National Anthem was played. Singer Demi Lovato sang The Star Spangled Banner for Super Bowl LIV at the Hard Rock Stadium. The music-mogul couple, along with their child Blue Ivy, refused to stand up as others did when the anthem started playing, and remained doing so until everyone sat down.

The rapper is in the midst of controversy after being in a partnership with the NFL. His job is to advise and help run the league's social justice initiatives and also take the lead role with the NFL's entertainment offerings. His promise to help former 49er Kolin Kaepernick, who protested during the anthem and knelt down, have a job remains to be seen. On this topic, he said that while he believe that Kaepernick was done wrong, Jay-Z said "I would understand if it was three months ago. But it was three years ago."

This just shows that while Jay-Z came into a partnership with the NFL for "activism", it's still a business deal.

A lot of people are unhappy due to this disrespect from two elite members of the society. Ryan Fournier tweeted "Jay Z and Beyoncé sat during the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Seems to me, the people who benefit the most from this country also have the most hate for it..."

Some people commented on @JCMD Media's post

It is sad how two respected people would choose not to stand up as the National Anthem was played, also teaching their young daughter to do as she chooses. There are many speculations as to why they did not stand up. However, the point is they did not stand up, and that is a sign of disrespect towards the people who fought and continue to fight for the nation's safety.
