Lashana Lynch takes over as 007 for the new James Bond movie
Lashana Lynch has been tapped to portray the next 007 in an upcoming James Bond movie. Even though James Bond is inspired by a real male British spy named 'White Rabbit' who is from the World War II era, this next 007 will be played by a black female, totally breaking the boundaries of what people are used to seeing in James Bond films.
As stated on Business Insider, "One of Britain's greatest spies of the Second World War, a secret agent who went by the code name White Rabbit, has been identified as the inspiration behind Ian Fleming's James Bond."
Well, I guess the people making the movie are throwing out the old British white guy for the young black female actress. This is sure to rattle some feathers just like the new Little Mermaid who will now be black as well. (Will we ever see a white guy play Black Panther tho?)
NY Post stated that "British actress Lashana Lynch, 31, will be introduced as the new 007 in what is being described as a “popcorn-dropping moment” in the franchise’s 25th movie that is currently being filmed, according to the Mail on Sunday.
But it is not a complete do-over — with her just taking James Bond’s secret agent number after he retires from MI6, the report states.
Bond himself will still be played by Daniel Craig — and will still adhere to his old-fashioned macho characteristics, an insider told the UK paper."
OK, so that's interesting. She's basically taking over for him. At least she's British, so the accent will still be there a little bit. It's just what the Post stated - a popcorn dropping moment for sure!
The NY Post continued, stating that Bond is going to be attracted to the new female 007 and try to seduce her. However, he will be 'baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed.'
According to sources, referred to as an 'insider' by the Post, there will be a "pivotal scene" where Bond, played by Craig, is basically called out of retirement and will introduce Lynch as the new 007.
"There are spectacular chase sequences and fights, and Bond is still Bond but he’s having to learn to deal with the world of #MeToo."
So in other words, it's probably gonna suck.
