Megan Rapinoe's girlfriend says going after Trump is 'necessary
Megan Rapinoe finally has the "full right" to speak, as her soccer team won World Cup, in the final with the Netherlands. Megan Rapinoe and her girlfriend (and WNBA star at the same time) Sue Bird don't like the current President of the USA Donald Trump that much.
Their dislike for Trump is so strong, that in May Rapinoe said that even if her team will win, they will never visit President Donald Trump in the White House. She also confirmed it in the recent interview, where she said, "I’m not going to the f-cking White House. No, I’m not going to the White House. We’re not going to be invited. I doubt it."
Donald Trump quickly dissed the girls, tweeting that "Megan should WIN before she talks" on June 26. Now, after Megan's fantastic performance (six goals plus two honors of Golden Boot Golden Ball as the top player and top goal scorer) at the World Cup, Sue Bird (Megan's girlfriend) says that this is "the ultimate silencer" to Trump.
The two met at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and these days, they live together in Seattle.
Megan was also the person that knelt down in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, and as her girlfriend says, there are obvious reasons for the girls to be engaged in a political discussion. “It makes no sense to say, ‘Focus on your sport.’ Listen, athletes are people,” she said. She also added that especially when "when the president is quick to make comments publicly", then "everyone has the right to respond".
The girls particularly don't like Trump's talk, tweets and some of his policies, but the President quickly replies to that they should focus more on his actions, as he "just got Criminal Justice Reform passed, (and) Black unemployment is at the lowest level."
