Megan Rapinoe: 'I think my dad voted for Trump'

United States soccer player, Megan Rapinoe, an outgoing Trump hater, has revealed there might be some political tension among family members. She reported that her father might have voted for Donald Trump in 2016's election. Rapinoe told this to the Guardian, and expressed her confusion with how her father can watch Fox News and still be proud of his daughter.
“I think my dad voted for Trump and I’ll say: ‘I don’t get it. How are you simultaneously as proud as punch of me, and watching Fox News all the time, [who are doing] takedowns of your daughter?’ That’s why I’m like: ‘You guys need to go to therapy,’” she told the Guardian of her parents.
Rapinoe also spoke about her mother who is a waitress. She said both her and dad (he runs a construction company) "should be “really progressive,” based on the lessons of equality they instilled in their children growing up and their support of Rapinoe and her twin sister, both lesbians, but “they’re not."
Despite the differences in politics, the soccer champion is still close with her parents.
Washington Examiner reported that Rapinoe constantly tells her parents, "You guys should really be Democrats!"
Rapinoe gained attention for taking a knee and being outspoken against President Trump.
Megan Rapinoe is 34-years-old and has won two World Cups with the women's national team.
She was seen in a controversial video in which a celebrating women's soccer team player threw the American flag on the floor, something many people consider a thing you're not supposed to do.
