Mom Leaves Baby in Carseat, Brings Decomposing Body to Hospital
A 22-year-old mother from Michigan has been arrested and charged with the murder of her 6-month-old son. The mother allegedly locked the young child into a car seat and left him in her extremely hot apartment for days without food or air conditioning where he passed away, most likely due to being malnourished and the excessive heat.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Lovily K. Johnson, 22, was charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse in the death of her son, Noah Edward Johnson. She admitted to authorities that she left the baby alone for roughly 12 hours.
On July 18th, she departed her home for roughly eight hours and did not check on her son when she finally returned. Then she left again on July 19 to run several errands, stopping at Family Fare, a gas station and a bank.
According to court records, she fed her baby son a bottle in the morning, but ended up leaving to chill with her friends and smoke marijuana. Investigators reported that after Johnson was done, “she returned home that afternoon, checked on Noah and found him unresponsive. Then Ms. Johnson contacted her father for a ride to the hospital.”
"The child weighed 12 pounds (5.5 kilograms) and also had a severe diaper rash after being left mostly unsupervised and strapped in a car seat upstairs in the home since the morning of July 17 while his mother smoked marijuana and visited friends, MLive.com and WOOD-TV reported."
It's reported that the mother didn't bother calling 911 to get emergency help. She simply had her dad to drive her and the baby to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital the afternoon of July 19, as shown by court records.
Poor baby Noah had been dead for some time when Johnson brought him to the hospital. It's reported that the body was already decomposing by the time Lovily Johnson got her son some help. Unfortunately for the child, it was too little too late.
Lovily Johnson is on probation for embezzling from a business and is the mother of a two-year-old daughter. The daughter was placed under the supervision of the state Department of Health and Human Services on Friday. The daughter belongs in custody of services because this mother is likely to spend a very long time in prison. If she's this bad, then you have to wonder how the family members are. Is there anyone in her family who is able to properly raise children? If so, then would they take care of Johnson's daughter the right way?
After the birth of her daughter in 2015, Johnson admitted smoking marijuana during her pregnancy and tests showed it in both her daughter’s, and later Noah’s, blood.
Johnson has limited contact with the father of her daughter, Marshall White, who pleaded guilty to aggravated domestic violence last year, the Detroit Free Press reported. These kids were surrounded by literally two of the worst parents one could ask for. Now one child has passed away and the other is in parental limbo.
The man is believed to be the biological father of Noah but is getting DNA testing done to be sure. Hey! This this is starting to sound like a really deranged episode of Maury!
“Upon arrival, Noah was clearly deceased and had been for some time,’’ Wyoming Detective Robert Meredith wrote in a probable cause affidavit. “Johnson . . . admitted that Noah was under her care and no one else’s care for the last four days.
“Johnson admitted to being at home multiple times a day during that time frame,’’ Meredith wrote. “She knowingly and intentionally deprived him of the necessities of life by not feeding him since Monday evening. During this time, Noah remained buckled in a car seat on the upper floor of Johnson’s apartment with no air conditioning.’’
The grandmother of 6-month-old baby Noah, who was allegedly left to die by his Johnson, believes the accused murderer was mentally ill and that the tiny victim was failed by the system.
“I think the system failed her. I think the people she wanted to love her failed her,” the grandmother said of Johnson. “It feels like people did not do their job. It feels like they’re still not doing their job.”
During the subsequent video arraignment, the judge was stern with the alleged murderous mother.
Johnson initially said she did not understand the charges. Timmers reviewed the charges a second time.
“Well, let me make it really clear,’’ Timmers said. “They alleged you killed a young child and that you physically abused it. Does that make sense to you?''
“Yes sir,’’ Johnson responded.
“OK, at least you understand the charges against you,’’ Timmers said. “Bond at this point is going to be denied and you are all set for today.’’
Being a parent means being responsible and caring about the children you bring into this world. If the mother wants to have some fun with her friends, then she should've taken the child with her or found someone to babysit. Leaving a baby alone for almost two days, in a hot room with no air conditioning, no food, and no change of clothes is child abuse. Sadly, Johnson's case of child abuse and neglect could likely turn into murder case. If it does, then most people would like to see her serve a life sentence. A mother who killed one of her children does not have what it takes to be a mother to her other child. She just isn't mentally capable of handing such a demanding responsibility.
Parents can't ditch infants in a room to go get high. Parents like this should be forced, by the government, to have their tubes tied. Anyone who is proven to treat children like this is not fit for being a parent and does not deserve to breed. And, let's face it, do we really want more of these genes on the planet? There's better people out there who deserve to make babies, but Lovily Johnson isn't one of them.
There's nothing lovely about her.
