Biden put Social Security “on the table” for cuts, but wants this video “disowned”

Here we go with another round of Democrat drama that has us all laughing out loud.

A member from the Bernie Sanders campaign has slammed Joe Biden for trashing social security and endorsing changes that could reduce it. Joe Biden is acting like it didn’t happen and wants a particular video taken down. Bernie’s campaign shared the video that literally shows Biden endorsing changes that could have reduced Social Securty and Medicare, changes proposed by Republicans. Biden then claims the video was doctored. Then AP fact checks it and reveals that 1) the video is not doctored, and 2) the video is edited and omits part of a much larger clip.

So here we are shaking our heads and wondering what exactly is going on.

Don’t worry. I’ve got that covered for you.

After someone from Bernie Sanders’ campaign posted the video, Biden called them out on it. He wanted Sanders’ campaign to “disown” the “doctored video” according to AP.

The video appears to show Joe Biden suggesting that cuts to Social Security and Medicare, proposed by Republicans, were just fine. The video in question makes it look like Biden endorses those cuts.

AP’s fact check stated:

“There’s a little doctored video going around … put out by one of Bernie’s people,” Biden told supporters Saturday in Indianola, Iowa, referring to a 2018 speech in which Biden discussed then-House Speaker Paul Ryan saying rising deficit demanded action on the popular entitlement programs.

“I’m looking for his campaign to come forward and disown it,” Biden continued, pointing to his 2020 campaign proposals designed to shore up Social Security. “But they haven’t done it yet.”

Here’s the part that they left out. However, it’s likely due to a character limit on Twitter, which is currently 280. However, they could’ve started a Twitter thread and posted several messages in a row. Either way, it’s funny to watch two Democratic candidates/campaigns argue over a video.

AP’s report continued:

The video in question, circulated on Twitter by a top Sanders adviser, does not appear to be altered. But the short clip omits Biden’s larger argument over how Ryan handled the 2017 tax cuts and subsequent budget debates. A separate Sanders’ adviser included a transcript of Biden’s remarks in the video clip in a separate campaign newsletter. He added other, more extended video, of Biden as a U.S. senator in 1995 and presidential candidate in 2007 explaining his support for a more austere federal budget, including putting Social Security and Medicare “on the table.”

So it looks like Biden was in support of working with the budget and that Social Security and Medicare were both options that could be looked at when it came to budgeting.

Absolutely nothing.
