Pelosi ignored Pence’s first call about Iran attack: “I’ll Call Him Back”

Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is big on requiring Trump to notify Congress about things such as military strikes, but when VP Pence called to notify her that Americans were under attack, she said: ‘I’ll call him back.”

She was also handed a note about the attack moments later, something children usually do with their parents when mommy or daddy is on the phone gossiping too much and can’t be bothered to listen to them at the moment.

While bases that have American soldiers living in them, in Iraq, the California Democrat was too busy to hop on the phone with Pence to discuss the situation at hand, one that was likely more important than whatever she was doing at the time.

And what exactly was Pelosi doing at the time? She was in a closed-door meeting with the Democratic Caucus. When the Vice President calls to alert you that your Americans overseas are under attack, then “I’ll call him back’ is not the best answer to give.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was huddling with Democratic colleagues when she was alerted of the missile attack on Iraqi bases that host U.S. troops.

The Washington Examiner pointed to this information regarding the call from Pence:

Ten ballistic missiles struck Al Asad air base in Anbar province, an Iraqi military center in western Iraq, while another hit a base in Erbil in the northern part of the country. Four other missiles failed, according to a U.S. military spokesman for Central Command.

Iran’s leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned that “revenge awaits” the United States after President Trump ordered the killings of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al Muhandis in Baghdad last week.

“Closely monitoring the situation following bombings targeting U.S. troops in Iraq. We must ensure the safety of our servicemembers, including ending needless provocations from the Administration and demanding that Iran cease its violence. America & world cannot afford war,” Pelosi said in a tweet about an hour after speaking with Pence.

A series of Tweets also describe how this unfolded.
