Schiff wants “Congress to fully engage” on Trump for drone strike

In an interview with Washington Post’s Greg Largent, Democrat Representative Adam Schiff (CA) suggested that Trump has contributed to a “spiraling situation” with Iran after a drone strike took out a top Iranian general. Schiff also suggested that Congress should host open hearings on the issue and “fully engage” because Trump may have put us on the path towards a war with Iran.

As of now, it seems like there’s nothing much going on with Iran and USA in regards to military action, especially after Iran had to admit they “unintentionally” shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane.

The facts are this: Trump acted without notifying most of Congress, because he believed it would be leaked to the mainstream media, as he stated at a recent rally in Toledo. He’s got a point there considering the amount of leaks we’ve seen out of Washington.

However, does this require Congressional hearings? What did Adam Schiff say about it?

Largent wrote this about Schiff’s comments:

Rep. Adam Schiff, the California Democrat who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, told me in an interview that he wants to see the House hold open hearings on multiple aspects of this spiraling situation.

“I think there should be open hearings on this subject,” Schiff told me. “The president has put us on a path where we may be at war with Iran. That requires the Congress to fully engage.”

Perhaps Rep. Adam Schiff could say something like, “it’s a great thing this terrible person was eliminated” – or maybe “Trump did the right thing, but next time he needs to follow protocol and notify Congress.”

Instead, Trump is threatened by Congressional hearings. Schiff is concerned.

Perhaps the concern should be with Iran and not his own president.
