Obama Judge Blocks Trump From Spending Military Funds To Build The Wall
President Donald Trump got bad news on Friday when an Obama appointed federal judge blocked him from using billions in military funding to build the wall. It was U.S. District Judge Haywood Gilliam who issued the permanent injunction in sweet old California federal court.
This was after a ruling that was made last month to only stop the use of military funding, for the wall, temporarily. Now Judge Gilliam, appointed during Obama's years as president, has made the ruling permanent.
That same judge now faces criticism for his decision.
The Hill continued, stating that "Gilliam, an Obama appointee, made the ruling on the military funds in a lawsuit brought forward by several groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Sierra Club, challenging the diversion of the military funds under the scope of the national emergency order."
Trump's team said the use of military funds was lawful under a national emergency, but Gilliam did not agree.
Gilliam stated that lawyers for the Trump administration brought no further evidence that would make Gilliam change his mind.
