Romney says Trump 'Fell Far Short' when he trashed Anti-American Congress members
Mitt Romney is criticizing President Trump and his tweets that called out congress members for putting America last. Romney says Trump 'fell far short' of his job to unite Americans after his tweets told congress members to leave if they don't love America and put it first. This took place during an exclusive interview with NBC10 Boston and Romney focused on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her "squad" that includes fellow Democrats Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley.
Romney said, "I certainly feel that a number of these new members of Congress have views that are not consistent with my experience and not consistent with building a strong America. At the same time, I recognize that the president has a unique and noble calling to unite all Americans regardless of our creeds, or our race or the place of our national origin, and I think in that case, the president fell far short with his comments yesterday."
The article, posted on NBCBoston, stated that Romney wouldn't say if Trump's tweets were racist or not. I'll answer that for Romney. Trump's tweets were not racist, they simply said if you don't like America, then get out and that message goes for pretty much anyone. If you don't love it, then change it. If you don't want to help change it for the better, then leave.
Romney ended his interview by saying, "That's all I've got, thanks," and walked away.
Trump has been criticized as being racist, bigoted, and xenophobic. The truth is this - Trump just said what everyone else is possibly thinking. If you dislike America so bad, then move somewhere else. No one can force someone else to love the country.
It gets better. Trump won't apologize for the tweets. In fact, he doubled down and told people to 'go back' to 'crime infested places' they came from. That was probably a jab at Ilhan Omar who is from Somalia. The same Ilhan Omar won't condemn al Qaeda, which says all you need to know about her.
I must say, Trump knows how to make waves in the press. No matter what he says, he's got people talking about him. The thing we need to ask is this - is Trump right?
