Ruth Bader Ginsburg tells audience: 'I'm alive'

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg returns to the public stage, stronger as ever after finishing radiation therapy for cancer. She made an appearance at the National Book Festival that was held last Saturday.

Her first words were "As this audience can see, I am alive, and I'm on my way to being very well". Through the last 20 years, Ginsburg battled different types of cancers and still survived all of it, including her latest one and is finally declared to be cancer-free. She is set to be back to work, none of her engagements canceled or moved at all.

Ginsburg attended the book festival which took place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, where her humor was well received by the audience. She discussed her career and told them what keeps her motivated. She stated that "For one thing, I love my job. It's the best and hardest job I've ever had. It keeps me going". She also said that she concentrates on her court's work instead of putting her thoughts on her "aches and pains", something that kept her going throughout the four rounds of cancer she had to go through.

She even shared marriage advice, telling the story of the time she got a call from famous singer Jennifer Lopez, asking to meet her and her beau Alex Rodriguez. Lopez asked what Ginsburg's secrets are to a happy marriage. With more than 4.000 people present to see the "Notorious RBG", her famous nickname, Ginsburg tells the public that it was beyond her wildest imagination that she would one day be known with uch a nickname. "I am now 86-years-old", Ginsburg told them, "Yet people of all ages want to take their picture with me-amazing", she marveled.

Ginsburg will return to the next Supreme Court term which will begin on October7.
