Seattle's Mayor, Jenny Durkan, has now stated that "white men" are mostly responsible for the chaos and riots that occurred during the protests for George Floyd.
Durkan, a Democrat, posted on Twitter, "I want to acknowledge that much of the violence and destruction, both here in Seattle and across the country, has been instigated and perpetuated by white men." In a second message, she said, "These individuals experience the height of privilege and are co-opting peaceful demonstrations that were organized by and meant to center people of color, particularly Black Americans."
Fires, looting, and all-out chaos erupted in multiple cities over the last week as a retaliation against what happened to George Floyd, who passed away after a police officer took a knee on his neck for several minutes during an arrest.

The officer, Derek Chauvin, has since been fired, arrested, and hit with multiple charges. He was fired right away, but not charged until later, which possibly helped spark the anger that prompted the protests and riots. Chauvin's wife has also filed for divorce.
While the protests started off as peaceful, most of them later turned into riots, fires, destruction, and violence.
In most cases, it was black and white people rioting together. In many cases, it was also one or the other.
There were several incidents where people protected their neighborhood stores. There was also at least one incident where what appeared to be an older white male was causing damage and protesters dragged him over to the police.
One of the most disturbing videos involved a group of black males beating a white woman with a 2x4 after she and her husband tried to protect their business.
On the other hand, the white guy who robbed Target and took a shopping cart full of goods to his van faced instant karma. He left the family business on the side of the van and the Internet went right after it to call him out.
The absolutely most ridiculous video shows a white woman trying to break a storefront window and completely failing. She hits it so many times with an object and nothing happens.
And perhaps the most wild video of them all shows a man chasing down potential looters with a sword, then they ganged up on him and left his body in the street. It's reported he was possibly in critical condition, but I couldn't find a definitive update.
So who is to blame?
That's a tough call, but President Trump announced plans to designate ANTIFA as a terror organization.
When the protests turned to riots, it's hard to figure out who really started it in each city.
It's easy to blame white people because whoever says that won't be called racist and they can use ANTIFA.
Anyone who blames black people will automatically be called a racist, despite the many videos of people perpetrating violence.
Is this the year we realize that blacks and white were rioting together, so they are both responsible?
