Street Justice: Man beaten to death after stealing car with kids inside
It was a crazy night in Philadelphia when a man stole a car with two kids inside, then later faced instant karma as he was beaten to death by the father and several bystanders who chased after the thief, according to police.
It all started when a 25-year-old woman parked her Hyundai outside of a pizza shop, left her kids in the car with the car running, and then went inside to visit her boyfriend (who is the father of the 2 kids). Yeah, that's basically the most irresponsible thing a mother can do with her kids and it's exactly what started this whole fiasco in the first place. Meanwhile, the kids are 7 months and 5 years old and at least they were strapped in for the short joyride.
While she went inside, leaving her two kids in the car with it fully running, some 54-year-old named Eric Hood hopped in her car and tried to drive off. He made it about half of a block and got stuck in traffic, which is very common in Philly.
Once he got stuck in traffic, that was the last lights he saw. The father caught up to the car, ripped the car thief out, and started pummeling him. Seems like some other bystanders jumped in the attack as well, which is information coming from investigators according to NBC Philadelphia.
"Medics responded to the scene and found the car thief unconscious with severe injuries to the head and face. Hood was taken to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after 10 p.m. The woman and her boyfriend were taken into police custody for questioning. Neither has been charged.
Police on Friday said they are reviewing Instragram video of the beating and looking for other witnesses. Police were also waiting on toxicology reports to determine if Hood had drugs in his system."
The car thief, according to officials, had at least 24 prior convictions and arrests.
Ladies - do not leave your car running with the kids inside. That's just lazy.
Guys - do not steal cars with kids inside. That's just ignorant.
