Trump closes border with Canada

President Donald Trump is officially closing the United States border with Canada. But don't worry, this was a mutual agreement made to slow the spread of coronavirus, so we don't need to build a wall for this one.

Trump stated on Twitter, "We will be, by mutual consent, temporarily closing our Northern Border with Canada to non-essential traffic. Trade will not be affected. Details to follow!" Let's just say we're glad he asked first. In the #MeToo era, it's always good to get consent. Don't want Canada getting mad and accusing our entire country of something inappropriate!

An article from a Canadian news source stated (thanks DW):

Speaking to reporters from Rideau Cottage in Ottawa, Trudeau said Canada will be closing it’s borders to people who are not Canadian citizens, or permanent residents of Canada. Trudeau said exceptions will be made for air crews, diplomats, immediate family members and U.S. citizens. He said second, airlines will ban anyone who is showing symptoms of the virus from getting on a plane. “That means anyone who has symptoms will not be able enter Canada,” he said.

This is a smart move. We do need to take social distancing seriously. Limit our travel. Limit what we do. And pray that a really hot day comes around soon and maybe wipes out some of the virus. What temperature will kill the coronavirus? I have no idea. This article says warm weather might slow the spread, but it doesn't seem to certain either.

Either way, here's President Trump with his announcement about the border closing with Canada.
