President Trump has now commuted Roger Stone's prison sentence, setting off a string of livid reactions from Democrats and mainstream media figures. Stone was about to be in prison in a few days, but Trump surprised everyone with a commutation. Stone was going to serve three years and four months in jail for telling lies to Congress, obstruction, and witness tampering in relations to the Trump/Russia investigation. However, that investigation turned out to be a waste of time as it revealed nothing and many referred to it as Robert Mueller's nothingburger.
"Stone told The Associated Press that Trump had called him earlier Friday to inform him of the commutation. Stone was celebrating in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with conservative friends and said he had to change rooms because there were “too many people opening bottles of Champagne here.”
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany called Stone a “victim of the Russia Hoax that the Left and its allies in the media.”
A commutation does not erase Stone’s felony convictions in the same way a pardon would, but it would protect him from serving prison time as a result." (Chicago Sun Times)
The reactions from Democrats are what many people expected.
Tom Perez, the DNC Chair said, “Is there any power Trump won’t abuse?”
Other reactions can be seen here as they were posted on Twitter, and of course, a video of Roger Stone dancing. The angry responses start in the middle of the list.
