Victoria’s Secret hires first transgender model
Victoria's Secret has hired their first transgender model, Valentina Sampaio, from Brazil. Sampaio shared her joy with her fans on Instagram, posting some photos from the casting session for Victoria's Secret. Sampaio will represent Victoria's Secret sub-brand named "VS Pink."
Another Brazillian model, Lais Ribeiro was really happy about it: “First transgender to shoot with VS! This makes me so happy," she tweeted.

Before being welcomed by Victoria's Secret, Sampaio appeared on the cover of famous Vogue Paris magazine, also as a first transgender person. Just like later on the covers of the others Vogue's branches, in Germany and Brazil.
But not everyone in Victoria's Secret really wanted to have a transgender person as Victoria Secret's model. Before Sampaio was accepted, Victoria's Secret chief marketing officer Ed Razek expressed his doubts about it.
“Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy,” said Razek in one of the interviews. After receiving some online backlash, he later apologized, saying that his remarks were "insensitive" and "it was never about the gender."
