Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggests that people organize a rent strike against their landlords or whomever they're paying rent to. She appears to talk down about people who own property and earn a living on rentals. She should not encourage any sort of "strike" at the moment because that word suggests people gathering in a crowd and going on "strike" which is what people typically imagine when they hear the word. As of now, we should be social distancing and not in any crowds. When people see her video, they might mistake a "rent strike" for an in-person strike.
Also, if you're having trouble with rent, just remember - the government only thought you were worth $1200 and had no problem giving the Kennedy Center $25 million - who then fired 96 musicians right after finding out they're getting millions.
Talk to your landlord if you're in a tight spot. Remember, they earn a living on rental payments, so if you're not paying them, they're not getting paid either. Come to an agreement that works for both of you.
