Federal judges call emergency meeting to discuss Bill Barr

If there was ever a deep state hit job, then this might be it. The national association of federal judges are having an emergency meeting to figure out what to do about politically sensitive cases, in particular - Bill Barr and President Donald Trump having a say on a more lenient sentence for Roger Stone.

Philadelphia U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe, who heads the independent Federal Judges Association, said the group “could not wait” until its spring conference to weigh in on a deepening crisis that has enveloped the Justice Department and Attorney General William Barr. “There are plenty of issues that we are concerned about,” Rufe told USA TODAY. “We’ll talk all of this through.” (USA Today)

Rufe is saying that a group of over 1,000 federal jurists have requested the meeting in response to Trump's criticism of the prosecutors - those particularly working the Roger Stone case, and four of whom have resigned.

Trump and Barr appeared to have intervened and got Roger Stone a lesser sentence, but in hindsight, his sentence should not have been extreme to begin with. Trump was seen on Twitter trashing the judge.

“Is this the judge that put Paul Manafort in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT, something not even mobster Al Capone had to endure?” Trump tweeted last week, referring to U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson. “How did she treat Crooked Hillary Clinton? Just asking!" Jackson jailed Manafort, Trump's former campaign chairman, prior to his convictions in two separate financial fraud cases after he sought to tamper with potential witnesses.

Rufe claimed that this meeting and the judges won't get involved with any current cases, but they do support Judge Jackson.

“I am not concerned with how a particular judge will rule,” Rufe said, praising Jackson's reputation. “We are supportive of any federal judge who does what is required.”

What is required is a fair sentence, not a sentence that involves emotions about politics.

Over 2,000 Department of Justice officials called for attorney general Bill Barr to resign. It's been labeled a political hit job by Lindsey Graham.
