Elizabeth Warren proves again why it's difficult to take her seriously as a presidential candidate. In this video, she suggests that she will allow a child to have the last say on her choice for Secretary of Education. In particular, this will be a "young trans person" who will decide on the employment status of someone who makes decisions for education.
As reported on the Washington Examiner:
"I'm going to have a Secretary of Education that this young trans person interviews on my behalf, and only if this person believes that our Secretary or Secretary of Education nominee is absolutely committed to creating a welcoming environment, a safe environment, and a full educational curriculum for everyone will that person actually be advanced to be Secretary of Education."
Warren appeared to be referring to Jacob, a 9-year-old transgender boy that she spoke with during a CNN presidential candidate forum on gay and transgender issues in October 2019.
In my opinion, the Secretary of Education is a pointless position that should be eliminated anyway. They don't do anything relevant to local education in the first place, so the position doesn't need to exist in the first place.
Take Betsy DeVos for example. She is one of the worst picks Trump made and her existence is absolutely pointless to education. This isn't critical of Trump, because no president in history can make perfect selections for every position, especially one that is so not important to the country.
The Secretary of Education does literally nothing for teachers and students on the local level.
