Mayor Carter of St. Paul originally said that everyone arrested in his town was from out of town. He later took that statement back, suggested it was not true, and it was reported on. However, many people shared Carter's original message and that sparked some controversy with people talking about paid protesters traveling into cities.
Fox News stated, "St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter on Saturday walked back a prior claim that all those arrested in city riots a day earlier were from out of state, reportedly saying he was given inaccurate police data. “I take full responsibility for that,” he said, according to Star Tribune reporter Torey Van Oot."
