GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy lets it all out as he reveals a recorded phone call that accuses WHO for being major hypocrites and accuses China of lies that caused people to lose their lives. McCarthy wrote on Twitter, "When the President first briefed Congress on COVID-19, Democrats were trying to impeach him. When he stopped flights from China, they called him a racist. When the WHO said it wasn’t contagious, he worked to protect Americans. President Trump's actions have saved lives."
That's his direct quote. To be sure, we should gather some sources. Here's a timeline of Trump's responses. Here's another timeline showing Trump restricted China travel on January 31. Here's a Democrat suggesting Trump's travel ban is fueled by racism. I'm not able to find a direct link to WHO saying this wasn't contagious, so that still needs a fact check. If you have it, place it in the comments please. To say Trump's actions saved lives is something we can assume, but actually difficult to prove. You can say that Trump stopped someone from entering the country with the virus, therefore by not getting the virus, people lived. However, you can't exactly pinpoint who. Or maybe you can, for example... everyone who's still here.
