Mike Lindell, the MyPillow guy, is apparently launching a new social media platform that allows free speech, except that it actually does not allow free speech. He says they will ban swearing on the platform and honestly, that's really lame You're either free speech or you're not. There's a lot of comedians, musicians, and other people who might have a swear word or two in their vocabulary, but that doesn't mean they're using it in hateful or mean context. Does that mean they won't be able to join, or they have to literally censor their own content?
Free speech is great - hateful speech and horrible speech used in hateful context is not. But if someone wrote "holy shit, that was funny" after they watch a funny video - is that something that should be banned?
We are human beings and we sometimes use "swear" words. The fact that we are in 2021 and we still call "bad words" the BAD WORDS is honestly stupid at this point.
