(WZTV) — Holding the Nashville mayor's office accountable leads to a heated confrontation, but FOX 17 Investigative Reporter Dennis Ferrier doesn't back down. Despite being accused of poor journalism from the mayor's press secretary, Dennis continues his pursuit of facts and demands answers after emails reveal Nashville leaders trying to suppress C0VlD-19 information. Here's what he found:
The mayor's office says we didn't give them enough opportunity to respond to our story that shows an email from Metro Health's Leslie Waller asking, "This isn't going to be publicly released, right? Just for the Mayor's office?"
"Correct, not for public consumption," responded Mayor Cooper's Senior Adviser Benjamin Eagles.
Let's go back to June 30th, the Metro Health Department tells Mayor Cooper's office that only 22 COVID-19 cases have been linked to bars and restaurants in the four months since March. Just 4 days later, the city closes bars.
