A tattoo shop owner defied his local state orders by opening his tattoo shop and was arrested just ten minutes later. He planned the opening, announced it on Facebook, and police also gave him a warning (reached out several times to him) that he shouldn't, but the shop owner did it anyway and claims it was in protest. He now faces up to 60 days in jail and some fines.
WRAL reported that Matthew Myers, the 38-year-old owner of Apex Tattoo Factory, announced he would open the store on social media. The police had called him ahead of time to explain the law and what could happen if he defied the North Carolina Governor's orders, and then Myers opened the store anyway.
His tattoo shop is deemed non-essential.
