Trump takes action against 3M for selling medical masks to other countries before America

President Donald Trump has taken action against the company 3M after learning that they were allegedly selling medical masks to foreign countries who were willing to outbid for the N95's, allowing what could be considered price gouging.

The scandal with 3M was discovered by Jared Moskowitz, the head of Florida’s Division of Emergency Management. He was trying to buy masks for Florida, but was unable to, and after some research and digging for information, he learned what was happening.

3M was allowing their distributors to sell to higher bidding foreign companies, despite America being in desperate need of the medical masks.

After Moskowitz went public on social media and even an interview with Tucker Carlson, the hashtag #Boycott3M was trending on Twitter.

President Trump chimed in and took action fairly quickly.

He invoked the Defense Production Act against 3M. This will help "ensure large companies can produce and donate medical supplies during the coronavirus pandemic."

As stated on CNBC, "An order released Thursday under the Defense Production Act authorizes the head of FEMA to “acquire” as many N95 masks from 3M or its subsidiaries as Trump deems necessary."
