John Kelly went off on President Donald Trump about topics such as Alexandar Vindman, Ukraine, illegal immigration, and even the mainstream news media. This all happened during a Q&A where he spent 75-minutes talking with guests at Drew University on Wednesday night.
For starters, Kelly is a retired Marine Corps general, so he has plenty of military background from which to make his opinions. However, it also appears that Kelly is not a supporter of President Trump, or maybe he is, but judging from his speech this week - it does not sound like he is.
One of Kelly's first stances against Trump was his support of Alexander Vindman. Kelly suggested that Vindman was just doing his job when giving testimony about Trump and the Ukraine, particularly a phone call that was debated upon whether it contained quid pro quo deal that would see the aid released in exchange for researching into the Biden family for corruption - a deal that many say was not a deal. On top of that, if Trump was pointing out blatant corruption, then more people need to see that's a good thing; not an abuse of power.
Anytime corruption is revealed, the only people who complain are probably corrupt themselves.
Kelly spoke of Vindman, Trump, and Zelensky. Kelly declared that what Vindman did is what they teach them to do.
“He did exactly what we teach them to do from cradle to grave,” Kelly told the audience at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. “He went and told his boss what he just heard.”
Although Trump has long insisted that his call to Zelensky was “perfect,” Kelly made clear that Trump indeed conditioned military aid on Zelensky’s help digging up dirt on the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
“Through the Obama administration up until that phone call, the policy of the U.S. was militarily to support Ukraine in their defensive fight against … the Russians,” Kelly said. “And so, when the president said that continued support would be based on X, that essentially changed. And that’s what that guy [Vindman] was most interested in.” (The Atlantic)
However, the phone call between Trump and Zelensky really didn't suggest that it was mandatory for them to investigate the Bidens. It was a request for it. Other evidence shows the aid was released. There are reports that suggest that the Ukraine didn't even notice it was held until a month later after it was released.
If you ask me, this is all normal political nonsense that has been going on for decades. People do things for each other and they watch out for each other. In this incident, Trump was blowing the whistle on some corruption where Joe Biden got his son a job paying $83,333 per month and the guy wasn't even qualified to do the work. Now we see what Hunter Biden is up to and it's not like he's a serious businessman who works hard. He's out making babies with dancers, getting married to someone else, even once got accused of using his late brother's identity and having a relationship with his widow.
However, since Trump is a Republican president, the people on the left side of politics are pointing the fingers at him.
How about pointing the fingers at Joe Biden and asking "where is the job application for making $83,333 per month, because I too want a job paying that well!"
Maybe Vindman was doing his job, but what about the part where Vindman admit to making up part of the Trump call summary?
Is that in his job description too?
Well not anymore.
Trump sent him packing early.
