#WeAreBaltimore trends after Trump and Rep. Cummings Twitter Smackdown

#WeAreBaltimore becomes second trending hashtag in US Twitter after President Donald Trump slammed Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings.

The president, using Twitter as his mode of communication, retaliates after being called out on the situation at the US Mexico border for the umpteenth time. Trump claims that Baltimore’s conditions are far worse than that of the borders and considers it the worst district in all of America.

It is known that Rep. Cummings is one of Trump’s loudest critics and has never held back his words. This is why Trump labeled him “a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border” in a series of tweets last Saturday. This was followed by a series of attacks towards Baltimore, calling it a “disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess."

Continuing that if he, Rep. Cummings, spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up Baltimore as it is a very dangerous and filthy place.

Democratic leaders condemned the act and reacted quickly that same afternoon. This did not hinder Trump, continuing to rant with the tweet “Baltimore is a very dangerous and very badly run district."

Citizens of Baltimore were quick to disprove allegations, making the hashtag trend all over twitter with supporters of each side once again at each other’s throats. Baltimore citizens take to twitter to post wonderful things about Baltimore to defend the district’s pride with #WeAreBaltimore to show solidarity.

Cummings tweeted in response with "Mr. President, I go home to my district daily. Each morning, I wake up, and I go and fight for my neighbors. It is my constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch. But, it is my moral duty to fight for my constituents."

The hashtag still trends at the time of this article.
